Michael, Constantin & Sabrina won the GetAway Car in September 2009 – check out their trip adventure:
After sorting out our credit cards, we were able to depart a day late from Sydney at last to escape from the lousy weather, and were heading into the tropical climate of Cairns.
Full of adventure and a sack full of expectations in the luggage, we were as much mileage as possible behind us and made our first stop in Hat Head right on a picturesque, secluded beach on which we celebrated until late into the night, our long-awaited road trip start.
Unfortunately, we were awakened the next day shortly after sunrise by heavy rains and this drove us further up north into sunny Queensland.
Alcohol, music and a free car, what else can you wish for?!? During a fantastic night out at The Gaff in Sydney, one lucky winner took the first prize home and is now driving the GetAway Car up to Cairns! For free!
Our first GetAway Car winner! Still without painting on the car…but this international mix of guys had so much fun, they wouldn’t even have noticed it, if we had painted the car over night! Keep your eyes open for the next winner! Somewhere between Sydney and Cairns…
Benny & Amir from Israel were the first winners of The GetAway Car. This is what they had to say about their trip:
“We started our trip from Cairns went up to Cape Tribulation with another to hitch hikers. One was an American dude named Bobby and one Canadian girl named Kate… Cape Tribulations was definitely one of the best places on our trip. After that we went down to Mission Beach and stayed at an awesome back packers called the Tree house which had a live reggae band playing and a huge cloud of weed smoke coming out of it. We also saw a crazy OZ red neck fighting with a 5 meters pyton to put it into a potato sack. We then went down to Airlie beach (Whitsundays was a amazing) there we picked up 2 ladies French and Italian which went with them to Fraser and Byron Bay. And at the end to Sydney…. The trip was wicked and so was Matilda (the car) thank u so much Travellers Auto Barn“
